Sarah Wilson’s ‘I Quit Sugar Cookbook’ Is Here! My Review.
I have to admit I am just a little bit jealous right now. Okay, let’s be honest, I’m incredibly jealous.
For a good couple of years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m going to release a recipe book. A ‘big’ one, you know? With tons of truly healthy but delicious food ideas, gorgeous pictures, helpful tips, and maybe even a shopping list app to go with it. The kind of cookbook that busy and healthy-minded women like yourself would be able to turn to for everything from everyday lunch inspiration, to great snack ideas for their kids, and even to preparing a fabulous dinner party.
It’s going to be fantastic; a kitchen must-have. And you’re going to love it. Want to share it with all your friends. Send me flowers and chocolates for putting together such a drool-worthy thing.
Only problem is … although I do write a lot of recipes (such as in my eating plan, which teaches you exactly how to eat right and stop struggling to get the body you want) … the ‘full on cookbook’ thing is kind of still in the works. It’s definitely on the list. Okay, it’s kind of down the bottom of the list, to be honest. After my website makeover (yay!), my new 8-week online transformation course, the launch of my new free magazine, and well a bunch of other stuff I like to do like hanging out with my family, eating, sleeping and training.
I have a theory about this procrastination of mine.
When I put something off for weeks, months, years, it does not mean I’m lazy or undisciplined. It means that deep down I don’t really want to do it. (Try this theory in your own life, it’s a great way to surrender). So, truth be told, although I am totally jealous that Sarah seems to have read my mind about what the perfect cookbook would include and released it before I’ve managed to draft the introduction, I’m also relieved.
Sarah has gone and done everything I would have done to create an awesomely helpful cooking and food prep guide, she’s managed to come up with a whole bunch of cool extra ideas that I never even would have thought it, and to top it all off her food photography is enough to make you want to eat the page. Really, she’s saved me a ton of work! Thanks Sarah ?
The ‘I Quit Sugar’ cookbook is an accompaniment to Sarah’s sweet little ‘I Quit Sugar’ ebook – an 8-week program designed to get you off the sweet stuff and feel great while doing so. In the ebook Sarah shares her own journey and gives you week by week tips to make breaking sugar addiction effortless. Well – far more effortless than if you tried to go it alone!
In the cookbook Sarah not only shares over 108 sugar-free recipes to cover every possible food scenario, but she continues to educate on some of the whys and how-tos of quitting sugar.
Anyway, clearly I am in love with this book and after devouring it thoroughly (then devouring a few recipes from it :)) I think it might be a bit of an essential for you also.
Unless you are already a cooking whiz, have tons of creative clean food ideas up your sleeve, and never get bored with eating healthy. If that’s you, maybe don’t get the book but definitely email me to explain yourself for not sharing all those cool ideas.

what i love about this sugar free recipe book
I was kind of sold as soon as I saw ‘raspberry tart’ and ‘crunchy-nut cheesecake’. I’m a sucker for a good dessert idea. Here are some other things I think are really great about Sarah’s ‘I Quit Sugar’ cookbook:
- The recipes are not too fancy, even though they often look it when they’re done. They’re easy to pull together, and don’t even require exact measurement
- There is an in-built shopping list maker! In- built! So you can automatically add ingredients to your list as you go through the book deciding what you’d like to cook, and then it tallies it up for you on Sarah’s website and spits out a list. This is so cool. Exhibit A of things I would not have thought of in my own cookbook.
- The introduction covers the basic foods and tools you’ll want to keep in your kitchen. Very handy.
- There are loads of links to resources, places to shop online for quality foods, and other cooking ideas
- There is a carrot cake smoothie. Are you kidding me? How good does that sound? ?
The only thing I would have loved to see in this cookbook is an even bigger section on desserts. I know, I know, there are 2 full sections just covering sweet stuff and sweet treats so I really don’t have a leg to stand on but as I said earlier – I’m a sucker for desserts and clean eating treats. I did skip straight to that section when I first read the book. Sarah – how about an ‘I Quit Sugar Dessert Book’ next time?
Hmmm … should I add that to my list?
We’ll see I guess. Or we won’t! For now though, enough talk from me. You can download Sarah’s book over here, for a pretty sweet price. I think you’ll love it. Let me know. And if you do have any favourite clean eating recipes of your own – you know where I am. Especially if they’re dessert ones ?
